Search engines have algorithms that categorize the web so that every time one searches for a keyword term all the related websites are ranked in order of importance. This is done automatically and algorithmically. To continually keep results fresh, and to avoid having spammers manipulate results, Google executes hundreds of updates to algorithms every year.
